about us

Marie Catrett
I am a trained guide with ten years teaching experience in the Montessori classroom. I love combining the order, consistentcy and rich learning environment of Montessori with the imaginative aspects of other philosophies such as Waldorf and Reggio Emelia. Fostering social and emotional growth is a special passions of mine. With our small group size and the coziness of a home setting, I’m proud to say that Tigerlily is a safe and connected place where children can truly thrive. There’s room for so many things in our day: chasing balls, playing with color, slicing, scrubbing, discovering caterpillars, inviting a friend to play, seeking some quiet time, reading about ducklings, singing out loud, tucking a ‘baby’ in for the night, getting kisses for a scraped knee, sitting on the potty for the first time, mastering a tricky button… It’s a good world and we’re so eager to explore it! My teaching style focuses on providing a safe and supportive learning environment via the classroom itself as well as the fair and consistent limits and boundaries that are the essential backbone of our program. I’ve been lucky to learn from wonderful teachers, both big and small. In addition to teaching, I’m a proud mama to an amazing third grader (graduate and alumni for life from my toddler program), dedicated partner, sometimes-writer and avid photographer.

I am an eager and enthusiastic first-year teacher and couldn’t be more happy digging my toes in the sandbox, singing joyously in circle, or recovering from a bump on the knee. The experiences and discoveries I have had with two very special families as their nanny have paired well with my studies at the University of Texas as I complete my Master’s in Education this December. When I’m not getting messy and having a good wiggle I like to listen to live music, get crafty, or hang out with friends.
